The Turbo Tuesday Tournament
THIS EVENT HAS NOW ENDED
This tournament takes the form of a wager challenge on the Video Slot '5 Reel Drive'. In this, you are wagering with your own money to win a prize in bonus money. There are also 4x£100 prizes from a lucky draw. The easiest way to play this is to set a coin size, and a number of spins to play and/or an amount to win or lose before stopping. The score is spins x wager (forget that more complex description on Casino Action). If you have a 2p coin, this will give a total wager of 45p per spin. 1000 spins will lead to a wager of £450, and this will score 450 on the scoreboard - it's that simple.
The art is to time your wagering so that you do not end up having to wager too much. Watch the scoreboard, and work out how many spins you need to have to reach the desired prize. Do not sprint too early, play 'dead' for a while, others may think you have stopped and US players may think a European player has gone to bed. A last ditch sprint at 4am GMT often catches them out - but beware, a large coin size can give heavy losses as well as heavy wins. The variance is reduced by selecting a low coin size and playing enough to keep up, and making a decision at the close whether you want to take a risk with a larger coin, or accept what you have.
The key to success is configuring your PC to make as many spins as possible per hour. The following steps will help.
1) Set a low graphics resolution, High Colour and 640 x 480
2) Set autoplay spin delay to zero
3) Turn off Game sounds and Background sounds, these slow the program down. Win sounds can be left, as they will play while the next spin is executed.
4) Get rid of unnecessary background tasks, the more CPU available for the casino, the faster it will run.
This is not the best tournament to play in respect of total return. The Sunday Power Poker is a much better bet.
One common question for new players in wager challenges is "How big a player do I need to be?". This will vary between casinos, and between different runs of the tournament. Last week's scores are always available, and one point is equivalent to one credit wagered. For example, to score 10000 points you must wager a total of £10000 worth of bets. You do not have to lose that amount, your score is based on throughput. I have created a reference of past scores, which can be linked to below.
